Natalie Portman Biography
Natalie Portman was born in Jerusalem on the 9th of June 1981. Natalie Portman's father was a doctor. Her mother, Shelley, from Ohio, was an artist The Portmans family lived in Jerusalem, and then moved to Washington where they stayed for 4 years. Portmans moved to Connecticut, before they settled on Long Island. Natalie had been dancing since the age of 4. Natalie's parents would take her to the theatre, to galleries and to many foreign lands. Natalie Portman was only 11 years old when she was spotted by a Revlon model scout in Mario's pizza joint in Long Island. She got good number of contact, which led to her auditioning for Leon. At first, she was turned down for being too young, but director Luc Besson gave her a go. Although the movie was a huge hit, it caused Natalie's family some problems due to her Lolita-esque role. Following this role Natalie won roles in such films as Heat (1995), Everyone Says I Love You (1996), Beautiful Girls (1996) and Mars Attacks! (1996). Natalie Portman became a leading lady when she landed the role of Queen/Senator Amidala for Star Wars Episodes I, II, and III. This helped Natalie win roles in films like Anywhere But Here (1999) and Where the Heart Is (2000). Natalie Portman has also had a successful stage career. She performed in plays as "The Seagull" and "The Diary of Anne Frank."
